At Hand-in-Hand Learning Center we serve meals Family Style, the benefits of family style dining are that children can learn and practice many social skills, such as: taking turns, passing food to others, saying please and thank you, and helping to set the table. Children often want to try new foods when they see other children and adults eating them. Children enjoy eating with adults and practicing good table manners.
At Hand-in-Hand, we meet the national nutritional guidelines for the age groups in our programs. We exceed the expectations by serving as much fresh local produce and garden produce that is available (using North State Local, NSL, guidelines), low fat, low sodium foods, 1% milk and whole grains. Our food service staff is ServSafe Certified and a member of the California Nutrition Association.
We at Hand-in-Hand are trained in the guidelines for “I am Moving, I am Learning.” Check out the link below to learn more about being a choosy eater.
