HAND IN HAND
WE BELIEVE EVERY CHILD DESERVES A CHILDHOOD FULL OF WONDER AND JOY, FROM THE MOMENT THEY ARE BORN, WITH LOVE, MEMORABLE LEARNING EXPERIENCES, AND THE FOUNDATION TO FOLLOW EACH PERSONS LIFE DREAMS…
Colusa Indian Community, Hand-in-Hand Learning Center is a state of the art facility open to all families residing and/or working in the Colusa County region. Our program provides early care and education, as well as extended after school programs, for children ages 12 months to 12 years of age. We are an Early Head Start – Child Care Partner (EHS – CCP) with the California Department of Education for our infant/toddler classrooms. We strive to provide a solid foundation of learning at each age level. We feel that play is an important aspect of each child’s day. Children’s most important learning occurs through intentional and supported through play opportunities. We will provide a stimulating environment with a variety of hands-on, and child-centered activities. Each child will be given special attention and care. Our goal is to encourage your child to gain a sense of confidence, worth, and a feeling of belonging in this program and with society as a whole.
Our program goals are:
- To partner with families in order to have positive relationships that will foster the growth and development of the children in our care
- To provide an atmosphere where children feel safe, creative and loved
- To use guidance and discipline techniques that teach young children how to get their needs met while learning the social skills that allow them to work, play and learn successfully in a group.
- To allow children to express themselves in many wonderful ways, including: emotionally, cognitively, socially, and physically
- To provide a variety of materials and activity options to give children a vast array of learning experiences
- To give children the foundation for good health, through nutritious food choices and physical activity, as well as approaches to overall wellness; mind, body and spirit
- To provide connections with the outdoors and nature through explorations in our outdoor classrooms, natural world and in our garden environment
