COMMUNITY SERVICE
The Community Services Department encompasses several different programs for the Cachil Dehe members: various member programs, Activities, Education, Tribal Health Program and Family Support Services. Each program under the Community Services umbrella touches upon different aspects of daily living, encouraging and supporting personal success and growth for all members, young and old.
Community Services hosts a wide array of activities for the members ranging from youth events and field trips to Elder outings. We also have resources available to promote health and balance for individual members and families alike.
The Tribal Health Program provides both direct and indirect services such as arranging and assisting members with medical appointments, wellness information and activities to promote the health and well-being of members. The Tribal Health Program hosts walking groups, provides healthy recipe choices which cover diabetes and kidney health in order to promote exercise and healthy lifestyle choices. Tribal Health Program also hosts an annual health fair for the Cachil Dehe members in which a wide array of vendors covering many different health services come to the Community Building to provide services and safety information, making it convenient for the members to get anything from diabetes and health check-ups to tips for growing a wonderful garden all in one location in one afternoon.
The Education Department focuses on children from the Pre-K stages through high school graduation ensuring their success along the way. The Education Department provides tutoring services, both in a group setting and individually. The Education staff assists new high school graduates and adults looking to continue their higher education with college by assisting them with scholarship applications and putting them in touch with a particular college of their choice. The Education Department also holds an annual Education Fair bringing together universities, community colleges and vocational schools for prospective students looking for more information and opportunities for educational growth.
Family Support Services has an onsite counselor available to provide mental health services for all Cachil Dehe members. The counselor also has a weekly teen group which addresses age specific matters and provides a confidential atmosphere to discuss various topics. The teen group also tours different college and university campuses throughout the year to get a better feel of what college life will be like and find out which college may be their own perfect fit.
