Public Safety
Our Public Safety Department is a branch of our government, established in August of 2009. The creation of this department allowed our tribe to centralize all acting ordinances and enforce those laws on tribal lands.
The Tribal Patrol team is responsible for patrolling all lands owned and operated by the Colusa Indian Community Council. This team works in conjunction with the Colusa Casino Resort security staff and local law enforcement. Their patrol includes securing Tribal Community housing on and off the reservations, farm operations, hill property used for hunting and traditional gathering owned by the tribe and operated by Outdoor Adventures.
Our staff consists of seven (7) patrolmen and women and they are available to assist all Tribal members, employees and visitors to provide and promote a safe working and living environment.
The team members of this department are trained in several areas of emergency response. Additionally, to support the department, the Colusa Indian Community Council hosts an annual cultural competency training with the local agencies to ensure the awareness and understanding of the communities.
We take pride in the responsibilities that we have been tasked with:
- To protect our Elders and Youth;
- To promote education;
- To instill a measurable difference in the feeling of safety and comfort in our environment.
